Strictly Come Dancing fans have pointed out there could be possible confusion on this year’s instalment of the ballroom dancing show as a number of the line-up share something in common.
Strictly Come Dancing is finally back, with the BBC series returning in autumn and the full line-up now confirmed, but die hard fans fear there could be confusion this year as many contestants share the same name.
Strictly fans have pointed out that there is one first name and one last name that comes up time and again in the official line-up.
Not only are there three contestants with the same surname – Kaye Adams, Tony Adams and Jayde Adams – but there are two people with the same first name in the cast – Ellie Simmonds and Ellie Taylor.
Taking to Twitter to respond to the full line-up, one fan wrote: “That's 3 celebs with the surname Adams this is going to get very confusing,” alongside a string of crying laughing emojis.
Another joked: “Hang on hang on hang on. Let me see if I’ve got this straight. There are THREE Strictly contestants this year with the surname Adams?
“Did the booker get bored on the first tab of the talent list!??! Also two Ellies. Come on guys. Seriously - who’s next? Bryan? Amy? Morticia?”
A third joked that the show's bookers told its stars: “Here, have two Ellies and three Adamses, make it work.”
There will be some changes to this year's Strictly after pro dancers Oti Mabuse and Aljaz Skorjanec quit the show earlier this year. Aljaz's wife Janette Manrara will continue to host It Takes Two.
Following the two fan favourites' exits, the BBC show announced that four new professionals would be joining the show.
European cup winner Vito Coppola , Chinese National Champion Carlos Gu , former Under 21 British National Champion Lauren Oakley and Latin dance champion Michelle Tsiakkas will all be taking to the stage.
Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli announced in May that he was leaving the show after 18 years as a judge on the panel. It came amid much speculation he wouldn't be back after being replaced by Anton Du Beke due to Covid travelling constraints.
After a record-breaking series last year, the pressure is on for the 2022 series to live up to the hype and meet the high bar set by fan favourites Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, who lifted the glitterball trophy.
