Strictly Come Dancing fans were quick to complain as the BBC show returned to Blackpool after three years.
The BBC One Latin and ballroom competition usually airs a special week from the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom each series, but they were forced to cancel this for the past two years owing to the coronavirus pandemic. This year, as the show celebrates its 20th series, it has been able to make a return to Blackpool leaving fans thrilled.
Hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, the programme kicked off with a spectacular Blackpool bonanza. However, it wasn't long until fans started complaining over one element and they rushed to social media to fume over the music choice for Kym's dance.
"Rubbish music choice for Kym & Graz Paso. The choreo was great but music spoilt it #Strictly," one fan wrote, whilst a second added: "Music choice, as with the backing dancers, hugely distracting. Not my favourite. #strictly."
A third penned: "This really does not feel like a paso, its completely the wrong music....lacks any emotion whatsoever."
"Horrendous song choice for a Paso #strictly," a fourth shared, with a fifth writing: "Kym danced amazinggg but they’ve done her so dirty with that song choice??? Not a paso song at all #Strictly."
However, others heaped praise on the dance and branded it magical and beautiful.
Strictly is back in its spiritual home of Blackpool this weekend, as the four judges - Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke - are tasked with giving their verdicts on this week's routines.
Among this week's routines, Ellie T and Johannes will dance the American Smooth to 'You’re My World' by Cilla Black, whilst Fleur and Vito dance a Couple's Choice to Destiny’s Child Megamix by Destiny’s Child. Helen and Gorka's routine will be at Quickstep to 'Valerie' by Mark Ronson ft Amy Winehouse whilst Molly and Carlos Jive to 'Bandstand Boogie' by Barry Manilow.
Kym and Graziano are dancing to the Paso Doble to 'Only Girl (In The World)' by Rihanna mixed with 'We Found Love' by Calvin Harris ft Rihanna whilst Hamza and Jowita will do the American Smooth to '(Theme From) New York, New York' by Frank Sinatra.
Tyler and Dianne, who avoided the dance-off last week when Tony Adams quit, will perform a Salsa to a KC & The Sunshine Band Megamix whilst Will and Nancy dance a Samba to 'I Go To Rio' by Hugh Jackman.
This is a key moment for all Strictly contestants, with many expressing their desire early on to make it to the very special Blackpool week. Host Tess Daly has described it in the past as her favourite week, other than the final.
*Strictly Come Dancing returns on Sunday at 7.20pm on BBC One.
