Strictly fans call for axed contestant to make dramatic comeback after Tony Adams quits

Strictly fans have called for axed contestant Ellie Simmonds to be brought back into the competition after Tony Adams pulled out due to injury.

Viewers saw former Arsenal legend Adams land in the bottom two alongside partner Katya Jones, but unable to compete against Tyler West in the dance off.

The 56-year-old made it through to week eight of the BBC show after finding the constant 'criticism' of both his dance partner and judges 'intense' and at times 'tough' to handle.

Tess Daly informed those tuned in to the Sunday night result's show that he would be leaving the competition.

But since he opted out, fans have called for Paralympian Ellie Simmonds to be allowed to come back.

One said on Twitter : "Can we have Ellie back as there was no dance-off this week? #Strictly."

Another chimed in: "Tony should have already gone with Ellie Simmonds still there."

Tony and Katya performed a jive to Land Of 1,000 Dances by Wilson Pickett but failed to make an impression on the judges.

In his parting comments, Tony told viewers: "It’s been emotional guys, I cried for the first month.

"Little did I know that I was going to learn a lot about myself in the process. I thought this ‘journey’ rubbish was nonsense, but my god the rollercoaster of emotion.

"I came in here with one message, if you’ve got an issue with mental health then please don’t suffer in silence and reach out for help."

Meanwhile Ellie went out on a high after a phenomenal Charleston performance with her partner Nikita Kuzmin scoring a respectable 33 points.

They were pushed out of the competition in the dance-of by Molly Rainford and dancer Carlos Gu.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the swimming champ said: "I don’t have the words to describe this Strictly experience. It’s been absolutely everything & more.

"I’ve had the time of my life & loved every single second of it. I’ve danced for 7 weeks & performed dances that never in my wildest dreams would have thought I’d do.

"I even brought skills out of myself that I never knew I could do (acting) Strictly changes lives & it’s changed mine."

The remaining eight couples will next take to the dancefloor at Blackpool Tower on Saturday, November 19 at 7.45pm, with the results show on Sunday, November 20 at 7.20pm on BBC One.
