The week's live offering from Strictly Come Dancing got off to a dramatic start earlier this evening.
As Will Mellor and Nancy Xu wowed the judges with an energetic Charleston to Hush by Kula Shaker, viewers watching at home were divided when it came to deciding if the couple's performance was worthy of such a high score.
Shirley Ballas gushed over the pair after they opened the show tonight, with hard-to-please Craig Revel Horwood even praising the pair despite having a slight issue with Will's 'free arm'.
But head judge Shirley was less complimentary of Ellie Taylor's latest performance on the BBC series - giving some harsh observations on the comedian's Jive to Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison with Johannes Radebe.
Looking very serious as she delivered her feedback, Shirley claimed Ellie was "a bit flat footed" during her performance and told the duo how she wasn't super keen on their dance, before going on to award them 6 points.
Craig piped in and claimed the performance lacked punch - something viewers watching at home certainly didn't agree with.
"The way they tear Ellie down is SO uncomfortable to watch. Craig and Shirley seem to revel in it (excuse the pun)," one fan watching at home took to Twitter to say after the criticism.
"I always feel like Shirley and Craig are really mean to Ellie every week," another claimed, as a third added: "And it [wasn't] the greatest jive, but why does Shirley always gets to... I would almost say vicious, to Ellie?"
However, some Strictly fans defended Shirley and Craig's comments and reminded other viewers how the show is a competition and it's the judges' job to sometimes deliver bad news.
"I agree with Craig and Shirley her dance was lacklustre #ellie #Strictly," one declared on Twitter, with another pondering: "Why are people so shocked at Ellie’s low score? That jive was not her dance & the comments from Craig and Shirley were fair. Time’s up now for Ellie. She’s had a good run but the rest are pulling ahead. We want a truly competitive final. Dance off this week."
Ellie's points total, 25 out of a possible 40, wasn't the only score to get fans talking earlier this evening.
Despite the four Strictly judges awarding the Coronation Street star Will and his professional dance partner Nancy a combined score of 38 out of a possible 40 points, fans of the BBC show took to social media to raise an eyebrow at the generous scoring.
"38?!??! nah those score are wrong #strictly," one viewer mused on Twitter as Will and Nancy's scores were revealed.
"Ngl, Will didn't deserve that score," another quipped online, as a third simply added: "overmarked! #Strictly."
Another tough Twitter critic declared: "Don't think Will deserved 10s just my opinion. #Strictly."
However, some watching at home sided with Shirley, Craig, Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse.
"Will Mellor solidified his DILF status with that Charleston #Strictly," one cheeky fan quipped.
"Actually 10’s are well deserved," a second agreed, with another of Will's fans adding: "38 points, well deserved, Will’s best dance so far…"
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One at 6PM on Sunday 27th November
