Ellie Simmonds has said she suffered a real 'low' on Strictly Come Dancing, after looking close to tears during this weekend's results show and thinking she was going to be in the dance-off. And fans are pointing the finger at blame at show bosses for her latest song choice.
Paralympic swimming champion Ellie has been a joy to watch on the BBC show so far, thanks to her amazing partnership with pro dancer Nikita Kuzmin. Going into Halloween Week, the duo's scores had been good, as had their feedback from the Strictly judges. However, things took a downturn after they performed a Foxtrot to the Scooby Doo theme tune.
Notoriously hard to please expert Craig Revel-Horwood said it was "too stompy," with two much walking between steps instead of dancing. The judges' rather lukewarm comments were reflected in their scores, with Ellie and Nikita second bottom of the leaderboard, just ahead of James Bye, who became the fifth star to be sent packing from the ballroom, after losing the latest dance-off to Fleur East.

Ellie looked visibly moved as she and Nikita were called safe, with host Claudia Winkleman saying she looked "emotional," on camera. Replying to the host, Ellie said: "Yeah, I am very much so because we were in the bottom two of the leaderboard," adding she'd had a "double espresso," as she was sure she'd be in the dance-off.
Ellie took to Instagram in the aftermath of the results show, with a candid post about how she was feeling. Next to a photo of her and Nikita in their Scooby Doo costumes, she wrote: " Halloween Week - You have your ups and your downs. Last night was one of those.
"We’ve learnt from it. And we’re grateful for every single person who voted for us and has given us another opportunity to dance. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m loving every minute of dancing on Strictly with Nikita by my side."
Angry viewers hit out at Ellie and Nikita's song choice at the weekend, with one taking to Twitter to fume: "The scooby doo theme tune is 100% a cha cha song, why would you assign a foxtrot to a song that doesn't even swing," with another tweeting: "They couldnt give E & N a better song for a foxtrot than that?"
A third reacted: "The Scooby Doo theme really doesn't suit a foxtrot, does it? I wouldn't be so harsh to say that it was boring, but it just didn't make a lot of sense to me."
