Strictly Come Dancing's Claudia Winkleman apologises after Tony Adams' explicit remark

Claudia Winkleman was forced to apologise after Tony Adams made an explicit remark on tonight's show.

The Arsenal legend is paired with Katya Jones on the latest season of the popular BBC contest. They continued their bid to win the Glitterball with an emotional American Smooth.

The routine won universal acclaim for the judges as he received 26 points. The former centre half was particularly thrilled with Craig Revel Horwood's praise as he said the performance was "better".

The 56-year-old erupted after the comment and pumped his fists at the audinece. However, Claudia was forced to address the response as she said: "I would like to apologise if there was anything fruity in the language."

Tony was stunned as he said: "Did I say something? Oh I'm sorry. I was so excited Claudia " Claudia insisted he didn't need to apologise. She said: "Don't be silly. Craig said 'better' and it often gets us all going. I get it."

The performance was dedicated to the people who helped Tony overcome his addiction struggles and he was praised by fans following the show on Twitter.

Mark said: "I absolutely LOVE @TonyAdams on @bbcstrictly - so many of the other contestants are in show business of some kind, but one of the best footballers of his generation and is 100 miles from his comfort zone dancing. And… he seems such a nice guy! Go Tony!!!"

Georgia commented: "I want Tony Adams to WIN this competition what a man crikey"

John posted: "get voting team Tony."
