Bruno Tonioli has confirmed he has quit BBC's Strictly Come Dancing as a judge, after 18 years on the hit series - but he hasn't ruled out a comeback.
The star, who was replaced by Anton Du Beke last year, will not return to the show he has announced, but hopes to work with Strictly again soon in some manner.
It has since been confirmed that Anton will replace Bruno for a second time, and likely for the foreseeable, with Bruno giving him his blessing saying he "deserved it".
Speaking on The One Show on Thursday, Bruno shared his big news with the hosts ahead of the 2022 series and said it was "his decision".
Bruno will remain on the US version of the show, Dancing With The Stars, where he is also a judge.
Speaking on the show, Bruno said of juggling both series amid the coronavirus pandemic: "It was impossible, it really was because the rules changed. Getting through airports was not what it used to be."
On Strictly, he said: "I miss it so much," before adding: "Because of the travel situation I cannot guarantee I’m going to be there.
"They need continuity, it's my decision and I think Anton has done a fantastic job and he deserves to be on that seat."
He went on: "Anton you have done a fantastic job, you deserve it. Carry on, do me proud but you’ve done it for me anyway."
Bruno confirmed Anton would be replacing him as he shared his love for all of the judges.
He also said he wouldn't rule out a future comeback to the show, even if it meant him doing something other than judging.
Bruno explained: "I may not be gone forever, never count me out. I'll always be a part fo the family I was there from the beginning .
"If they want me to do anything, contribute."
For the time being, he said: "It's impossible, but the panel were so good last year it worked and they have all my support."
It was reported earlier this week that Bruno had quit the BBC series after missing the past two series, appearing via camera link in 2020 and not at all in 2021.
A source told the publication: "'Bruno has quit the show for good."
