Strictly Come Dancing fans were left disappointed just minutes into the show on Saturday evening.
A special episode was broadcast to celebrate the BBC 's 100th birthday. As the show opened, a montage showed various TV legends paying tribute to the Beeb, for its years of "coverage, service, and memories".
There was then a breaking news bulletin presented by news legend Huw Edwards. He told viewers: "Some breaking news, Strictly Come Dancing appears to be taking over the BBC, with a feast of sequins and salsa.

"Some of us are too busy to dance, we have very serious work to do." The camera panned out as Huw could be seen to be holding a ukulele.
He continued: "Do you know what this is? It was named after me, it's a 'Huw...kulele'. He then began to play as Strictly pros Giovanni Pernice and Amy Dowden danced into the studio. Fans were also told couples would be dancing to BBC theme tunes this evening.
Some viewers at home enjoyed the opening segment while others were "cringing". Taking to Twitter, Sarah said: "I love the beeb but I am cringing Lord" [sic].
Victoria said: "Tonight is going to be weird" while Thea said: "God this is a whack theme night." Annie said: "This is either going to be really good or awful" while Paul said: "This is too much, no."
