Strictly bosses eyeing up Matt and Emma Willis to have couple compete against each other

Strictly Come Dancing bosses are looking to spice things up by having a married couple compete against each other to take home the Glitterball.

BBC bosses are considering adding this twist to the format in a bid to keep the show fresh and exciting, and have their eyes on Emma Willis and husband Matt. The former Big Brother presenter and Busted star are top contenders to be signed up for the next season of Strictly, after being forced to back out due to Matt's theatre commitments.

The couple tied the knot in 2008 after three years of dating and share three children together: Isabelle, 13, Ace, 11, and Trixie, six.

"Strictly are desperate to get a celebrity couple on the show and Emma and Matt were in negotiations for the last series,’ an insider said. “It was virtually a done deal but then Matt was cast in the theatre show 2:22 A Ghost Story and they had to back out."

They added: "Strictly would love to have them back on board for next year’s show and Emma and Matt have said if they can make it work they would jump at the chance. Bosses on the show are always looking at ways to keep the format fresh and they loved the idea of having a celebrity couple competing against one another.’

The source added to The Sun: "Matt and Emma are very much in the running but if they can’t make it work, the Strictly booker will be looking at other famous partnerships."

The TV personality is a self confessed Strictly fan and would be very keen to sign-up for the hit show. "Strictly… I’m tempted every year, very, very tempted," she told Metro. ‘I watch it every year obsessively, and to be taught by the best to do a skill, why wouldn’t you?

‘I’m not a dancer, I’m just a bit awkward. I kind of pogo up and down. So, to do ballroom… I don’t know. It’s giving me the sweats standing in front of the judges.

‘But I’m at a point where I’m like “f**k it” do the things that scare you.’

This comes after wildlife photographer Hamza Yassin and his professional partner Jowita Przystal took home the Glitterball trophy this year. The dynamic duo beat out Fleur East, Helen Skelton and Molly Rainford in the intense finale.
