Westminster city council cleaners were greeted with appreciative applause after Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II's coffin was brought to Westminister Hall from Buckingham Palace. Cleaners marching through Whitehall were cheered by enormous crowds gathering to pay their respects to the late monarch, in recognition of their important work.
As reported by MyLondon, footage of the emotional scene was captured by parliamentary worker Sarah Jane-Sewell from the window of her Parliament Street office. Crowds of mourners could be seen clapping a group of 17 council cleaners, thanking them for all their hard work at this historic time.
A second video, also taken by Sarah, shows Westminster council workers preparing for the upcoming schedule of Royal events by covering Parliament Square with sand.

The tweet has been viewed more than 192.4k times and counting, with many people pleased to see the hardworking cleaners getting some much-deserved recognition and branding their hard work "amazing".
One person commented: "That's lovely. People doing jobs like this rarely get any credit but people soon notice if they aren't there!"
Another approved: "Behind every successful event is a team of hard workers. Glad to see them getting the recognition they deserve".
Cleaners from Westminster City Council are usually very busy during the autumn months, with the cleaning team and contractors Veolia typically spending seven weeks clearing leaves from Central London streets.
Approximately 1,000 tonnes of leaves will be cleared away in that period from areas such as Hyde Park, Green Park, and Victoria Embankment Gardens.
The cleaning team will also tidy up after significant events in the national calendar. For example, workers spent approximately 19 hours clearing up Leicester Square and areas of Central London and Wembley after England lost out to Italy in the Euros 2020 final.
