Stray dog on the tracks halts two London Underground lines

Chaos erupted on the London Underground after a loose dog on the tracks resulted in two lines being hit by severe delays.

Transport for London said there was no service between Waterloo and Stanmore on the Jubilee line while work took place to remove the animal.

The Metropolitan line from Wembley Park to Aldgate faced disruption due to the same incident just before 1.30pm today.

Services were still being impacted more than five hours later.

TfL said at 6pm on Thursday: “Jubilee Line: Severe delays due to an earlier animal on the track.

“London buses, C2C, DLR, Thameslink, Mildmay line and Elizabeth line are accepting tickets via any reasonable routes.”

At around 4pm the dog was returned safely to its owner, but left behind disruption on the network.
