Strawberry Blonde Is Destined to Be the Hair Highlight of Both Spring and Summer

Barbie was definitely the breakout hit of last summer. Margot Robbie was destined to play the titular role with her blond hair and blue eyes. That may be part of the reason we've been seeing a whole lot of celebrities dyeing their locks bright shades of blonde. But now there's a new mane attraction: strawberry blonde.

We have Robbie to thank for this latest hair color craze. The actress was recently snapped on the set of her new movie A Big Bold Beautiful Journey rocking both bangs and a redder shade of blonde. That was all the internet needed to declare the hue the It shade of the moment.

In fairness, strawberry blonde has been trending among celebs for years and years. Several notable stars have switched up their shades by either going darker or lighter, depending on the hue they started off with. Perhaps no other celeb is as synonymous with reddish blond locks as Nicole Kidman. (Which is kinda ironic since she's one of the many who succumbed to the brighter blond craze.)

Although she's far from the only one. Blake Lively, January Jones, Michelle Williams and Rachel McAdams have all embraced the shade at one time or another. The great thing about being a strawberry blonde is that there's still lots of room to experiment. You may want to lean more red or favor a blonder take to suit your needs. This is definitely not a case of one shade fits all.

With that in mind, we've rounded up several celebs who've already nailed the trend. That way you can take your favorite image to your colorist for reference. Or save it to your phone so you can place it next to the bottles of hair dye at the drugstore to find your ideal match.

McAdams showed off her strawberry blond locks at the London premiere of About Time in 2013. The usually blond actress certainly turned heads across the pond with her fiery new hairdo.

Adele collected her award for Best Pop Solo Performance for "Easy on Me" at the 2023 Grammy Awards. Her luscious locks were set in cascading Old Hollywood waves.

Way back in 2011, Lively stunned at the Met Gala celebrating "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty." Lively's dress really shined as did her dramatic strawberry blond transformation.

Cate Blanchett's red-tinged hair at the 51st New York Film Festival in 2013 was subtler. But it still packed a punch, especially since it was paired with a lovely nude-colored lace dress.

At the Los Angeles premiere of The Beach Bum in early 2019, Isla Fisher's pretty purple embellished dress helped bring attention to her light red mane.

We're used to seeing Amy Poehler with blond locks, but for the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards, she wowed with a decidedly redder blonde.

Amy Adams attended the 2019 Academy Awards with middle-parted, wavy, strawberry blond locks. Basically, #hairgoals.

Another blonde who opted to go a hair darker, Jones arrived at a New York City special screening of Mad Men in 2015 flaunting sumptuous, strawberry-inspired strands.

Michelle Williams (Credit: Courtesy of Frazer Harrison/Getty Images)

Williams hopped on the strawberry blond bandwagon back in 2012. Her iconic pixie made the color really pop at Forevermark and InStyle's A Promise of Beauty and Brilliance Golden Globe Awards Event.

Evan Rachel Wood went blonder than usual for the 2005 New York City premiere of King Kong. She loves sporting shorter hair, but the color combined with her just-wavy-enough strands was pitch perfect.

If you're looking for a more low-key way to get in on the action, allow us to present Kate Bosworth at the Hunter for Target Ultimate Family Festival in 2018. Neither blonde nor red, it actually splits the difference with tremendous results.
