The Met Office has issued an amber warning for "extreme heat" in Strathclyde.
The warning, which will be in effect between 12am on July 18 and 11.59pm on July 19, is in place for the regions of East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, and South Lanarkshire.
The Met Office states: "A hot spell is likely to develop from Sunday, likely peaking early next week, leading to widespread impacts on people and infrastructure."

It adds: "After a very warm night, hot weather, already underway across other parts of England and Wales is expected to develop more widely across Wales, southwest and northern England, plus southern Scotland. Some exceptionally high temperatures are possible, both by day and by night, for Monday and Tuesday. This following a warm weekend, will likely bring widespread impacts to people and infrastructure."
According to the forecaster, people vulnerable to extreme heat are likely to experience "adverse health effects". Those who experience these during the heatwave should call 999 in an emergency, or 111 if they require non-emergency assistance.
The general population have been warned of more general heat-related health effects, such as sunburn and heat exhaustion. The latter includes symptoms such as dehydration, nausea, and fatigue.
With temperatures set to soar early next week, the Met Office states that "some changes in working practices and daily routines likely to be required". In addition, while the amber warning is in effect there is a higher chance that certain heat-sensitive systems and equipment may malfunction — which may lead to "localised power cuts and the loss of other services to some homes and businesses".
More people will be visiting beaches and other costal areas, as well as lakes and rivers, meaning there will be a higher chance of "water safety incidents" occurring. The Met Office adds: "Some delays to road, rail and air travel are possible, with potential for welfare issues for those who experience prolonged delays".
