Kellie Armstrong fist pumped as her name was called out along with her total number of first preference votes yesterday.
The Alliance Party candidate topped the polls at her Strangford constituency on Friday, with 7,015 votes in the first count, making her the first MLA for Northern Ireland to be announced.
Michelle McIlveen of the DUP, secured the second highest number of first preference votes with 6,601 and was elected to the Assembly after the fifth stage count.
Harry Harvey stood proudly alongside his DUP colleagues as he was elected MLA for Strangford late on Friday evening.

The overall turnout for the Strangford constituency was 58.42% - in numbers, there were a total of 70,775 eligible to vote in this constituency and of that total, 41,345 voted. Comparing to the previous Assembly Election in 2017, the turnout was 60.9%.
With the count spilling into Saturday morning, there were huge cheers and screams from the Alliance camp as Nick Mathison first heard the news that he'd be taking an MLA role.
Following on from this, UUP's Mike Nesbitt was also elected as an MLA in the Assembly Elections.
