Stranger Things optical illusion so good viewers 'jump' after image revealed

An optical illusion showing Eleven from Stranger Things has stunned people on social media claiming the image "pops" out at them.

A picture drawn by TikTok user @rishi.draws has gone viral and attracted almost 14.5 million views.

The clarity of the optical illusion, which appears only after closing your eyes, shocked viewers who flooded the comment section. Viewers watch the artist draw the digital portrait of Eleven, as he talks through how the optical illusion works.

One commenter said the reveal was so good it was like 'witchcraft' with a serious 'jump scare'.

Rishi narrates the video, saying: "This week I'm drawing another optical illusion: a portrait of one of my favourite TV show characters. But the catch is you can only see this portrait with your eyes closed."

The portrait, now finished, has a white dot placed in between Eleven's eyebrows. He continues: "I know it sounds crazy, but to make this work, I need you to stare at this dot for 30 seconds then close your eyes. Got it? Now just keep staring at it. You can blink but just keep looking at it - I'll keep track of that for you."

After staring at the image, you are instructed to close your eyes, at which point the picture - which depicts Eleven staring intensely at the viewer - suddenly appears.

Social media users shared they were thrilled if not scared by the reveal. Liked over 176,00 times, the most popular comment on the video sharing app said: "Wow - that was way cooler than I expected".

A Twitter user likened the optical illusion to witchcraft: "Babyyyyy better be glad it's the year of our lord two thousand and twenty two because pulling something like this back in 1622? It would've been straight to the flames, witch!!" One person exclaimed: "THAT WAS A JUMPSCARE"

Other commenters said the illusion could be seen for quite a while or even with their eyes open. One popular comment said: "Bro now she's staring at me like a shadow in the comments."

Another wrote: "I don't know if I should be scared or amazed."

The viral video has racked up a stunning 1.7 million likes and almost 49,000 comments on TikTok.
