David Harbour has said that he needed an extreme diet to lost a huge five stone ahead of reprising his role on Netflix series Stranger Things.
The 47-year-old actor plays Jim Hopper in the hit show and was forced to shed the pounds so that he could carry on being convincing as his character.
In the show, Hopper is taken prisoner in a Russian Gulag and David had to ensure his physical frame matched that of someone imprisoned in this way.
It was not easy dropping down five stone and David said that it was a "hard process".
The actor told Sally Nugent and Jon Kay on BBC Breakfast that he took extreme measures to achieve his goal, with starvation being the tactic he most employed.
David said: "It's not easy, it's a lot of not eating when you lose that much weight, and being hungry."
He added: "That's the secret, if you're curious about the diet secret, it's just not eating food."
David is currently treading the boards at London's Ambassadors Theatre, where he is starring in Mad House, and he continued: "You know at the end of season three I was about 270 pounds and then when we came into this season I was 190."
He also revealed that a sword he used in the Netflix show was that same one wielded by Arnold Schwarzenegger in his Conan films.
The iconic sword was used in 1982 film Conan the Barbarian as well as its sequel, Conan the Destroyer.
He showed off the piece of movie history on his Instagram, with David captioning the snaps: "Nerd alert. The prop at the end of episode 9 is the Atlantean sword from the CONAN films.
"A lovely fan found a still of when it was established in ep 7 and used by an unlucky inmate who met an untimely death near the cells at the side of our gladiatorial pit.
"The real excitement behind this however, is that the sword the incredible ST props department (reveal yourselves guys so I can credit you) gave me is THE ACTUAL SWORD used in the filming of both CONAN films.
"It was heavy as hell, and such a tremendous honor to wield. @schwarzenegger - ready to accept your notes on my technique."
