Stormzy announces 'incredible' one-off UK show as he takes over festival for a day

Stormzy fans will be in for a treat next year when the rapper rocks up at a one-off show for the All Points East festival.

The gig will be held in Hackney, London on Friday, August 18.

Entitled This Is What We Mean Day, the much-hyped show will draw in huge crowds - especially after fans saw the star's post on Instagram today (Nov 9).

Sharing a cartoon of himself, contemplating his next gig, Stormzy muses:“I was thinking what’s next cos we’ve done 3 O2s, shut that down.

"I said to the team we gotta do something bigger something better something different. We were having back to back meetings bouncing ideas.

"Then it hit me I started jotting down ideas thinking - live band need a live band. August 2023 a summer time thing outside for the people always for my people. So August 2023 Victoria Park more info coming soon….This Is What We Mean Day. Hard.”

Captioning the vid, he wrote: "THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN DAY. This is my only UK show next year and I promise you it will be an experience.

"We're taking over Victoria Park for a special day of full of incredible artists and music and vibes.

"For priority access to tickets, pre-order-my album on store.stormzy.com - be quick as this will be madness!"

The surprise news went down a storm with fans, with one saying: "They go on sale on pay day. IT'S A SIGN!"

While another replied: "My Christmas gift in advance!"

Stormzy's video comes after he announced his eagerly-awaited third album This Is What I Mean will be released on November 25.

In a statement released last month, the star revealed how he recorded the album on Osea Island, east of London, that’s only accessible by car for a few hours a day due to changing tides.

Recalling the creative experience, he said: “When you hear about music camps, they always sound intense and somber. People saying, ‘We need to make an album.’ ‘We need to make some hit records.’ But this felt beautifully free. We’re all musicians, but we weren’t always doing music. Some days we played football or walked around taking pictures. And the byproduct to that was very beautiful music.

"Because when you marry that ethos with world-class musicians and the best producers, writers, and artists in the world, and we’re in one space, that’s a recipe for something that no one can really imagine."

Tickets for Stormzy's gig in 2023 go on general sale Thursday 17 November at 10am via www.allpointseastfestival.com.
