As New Year's Eve approaches, travelers gearing up for celebrations in the Northeast may face some hurdles as a storm bears down on the region, including New York. This comes after a fierce blizzard wreaked havoc in parts of the Midwest earlier this week, causing nearly 150 weather-related incidents on Christmas Day. One major consequence of the blizzard is the closure of a large portion of Highway 30 in Nebraska.
Despite the impending storm, the outlook for flight travel seems surprisingly favorable. FlightAware reports that out of the thousands of flights currently in the air, only 140 have been canceled so far. While a few thousand flights are experiencing minor delays, this is to be expected during the busy holiday season when everyone is vying for the same flights. Sometimes, even being on time can be a challenge, as it may take extra time just to get the plane's doors closed.
