Storm Eunice: Travel updates and cancellations on roads, ScotRail and ferries

Storm Eunice has landed in Scotland, and with it, all the travel disruptions and cancellations that come with a major storm.

Conditions will be difficult for drivers and commuters on the roads, rails and ferries as a result.

The Met Office's warning for heavy snow is in force from 3am to 6pm - with snowfall up to 5cm expected in lowland areas and a whopping 20cm possible over high ground.

A very wintry day with snow, sleet and rain is forecast today, plus icy-cold weather as highs only reach 2 - 5C in Scotland.

Police Scotland have warned there is a "high risk" of disruption due to Storm Eunice.

However, ScotRail tweeted that they don't expect it to have the same level of disruption as Storm Dudley.

Here are the travel updates so far from Traffic Scotland, ScotRail and CalMac.

Traffic Scotland updates: roads and bridges

Heavy snowfall was captured on the A83 from Clachan to Tarbet (Twitter / BEAR NW Trunk Roads)

Warnings

  • Dundee: cold weather, all directions
  • Aberdeen: cold weather, all directions

Scotland's bridge restrictions

  • Forth Road Bridge: 8am to 6pm: 40mph speed limit implemented
  • Cromarty Bridge: 4-7pm: caution high winds
  • Dornoch Bridge: 4-5pm: closed to high sided vehicles, then from 4-9pm, caution: high winds
  • Erskine Bridge: 11am to 6pm: caution high winds
  • Kessock Bridge: 4-7pm: caution high winds
  • Tyne Bridge: 4-5pm: 40mph speed limit implemented, then on February 19, 10am to 5pm: 40mph speed limit implemented

Scotrail updates

Here are the train disruptions and cancellations as of 8:36am today:

  • Edinburgh to Arbroath: train services between will be terminated at and started back from Dundee - disruption is expected to last until around 23:59 today.
  • Montrose and Aberdeen: train services between Montrose and Aberdeen will be suspended - disruption is expected to last until around 23:59 today
  • Glasgow Queen Street to Inverness: the 8:45, 15:08, 18:08 services will have fewer carriages
  • Glasgow Central to Kilmarnock, Stranraer via Kilmarnock, Dumfries, train services between both stations may be delayed

  • Glasgow Central to Barrhead: services will be suspended until 10am

CalMac ferry disruptions

As of 6:31am today, the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry disruptions are:

  • Amended timetable: depart Lochboisdale - 07:15, arrive Oban - 13:00
  • Amended timetable: depart Oban - 13:30, arrive Lochboisdale - 19:15
