Storm Eunice: Staff at caravan parks on the East Coast carrying out 'constant patrols' over high winds

Managers of well-known caravan parks on the East Cast say staff will be carrying out patrols across all sites as Storm Eunice sweeps across the country.

Dave Cotterill, manager of Laver Leisure, has been speaking about the plans in place for dealing with Storm Eunice, which has brought extreme weather causing widespread disruption.

Laver Leisure runs 13 campsites across Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards, including Golden Sands Park and Seaviews Park.

And Mr Cotterill told Lincolnshire Live staff were carrying out patrols across all of the firm's holiday sites.

This, he said, was to ensure safety and reassure site owners who are away from their holiday homes during the storm.

On Friday morning (February 18), he said strong winds were yet to hit the coast, and that the conditions had been "very calm".

With the worst of the weather expected on Friday afternoon, Mr Cotterill spoke of the planned patrols.

"There are going to be regular patrols but, touch wood, nothing has happened yet," he said.

Winds of up to 60mph are forecast for the afternoon.

The Met Office has issued a rare red weather warning for parts of the UK on Friday, February 1 8, and said there could be “flying debris resulting in danger to life”.

An amber warning remains in place for most of England - including Nottinghamshire - and all of Wales as Storm Eunice arrived on our shores.

The warnings are in place all day Friday until 9pm.

Storm Eunice is expected to bring extreme weather to the city and wider county, with East Midlands Railway urging customers not to travel at all.

National Highways sent a similar message to motorists, urging people to only drive if it is essential.

People across Nottinghamshire have also been told to stay indoors by the fire service.

The latest storm follows Storm Dudley which caused trees to fall in Mansfield and Ruddington, as well as onto a home in Wollaton.
