Closing summary
Storm Bram is bringing heavy rain and strong winds to large parts of the UK and Ireland, causing significant disruption to flights, trains and ferries.
UK Met Office amber weather warnings – the second most severe – were in place for north-west Scotland and Northern Ireland, where gusts of up to 90mph were predicted. Amber warnings signify a greater likelihood of travel disruption and a potential risk to life and property from the adverse weather conditions.
There have been yellow wind and rain warnings in parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England.
More than 80 flood warnings are across Britain (although none of them severe), meaning flooding is expected to happen in those areas.
National Grid said this morning it had thousands of properties without power across the Midlands, the south-west of England and south Wales.
