Stop-and-search powers extended and patrols stepped up after man, 20, shot dead in Moss Side

Stop-and-search powers were extended and police patrols have been stepped up after a fatal shooting in Moss Side.

Officers have been investigating at the scene of the shooting on Claremont Road since the 20-year-old victim was tragically killed in the early hours of Monday morning (August 15). He suffered serious injuries after a gunman opened fire just hours after Manchester's Caribbean Carnival ended.

A huge cordon was put in place around the area as crime scene investigators gathered evidence and Tactical Aid Unit officers conducted fingertip searches. Last night, police said stop-and-search powers in the Moss Side area had been extended and would last from 10pm to 4am.
