Stoke Newington: Woman suffers broken ribs after being ‘deliberately pushed’ into road outside Sainsbury’s

A man has been arrested after a woman was ‘deliberately pushed’ into the road on Stoke Newington High Street

A woman in her 60s was taken to hospital with fractured ribs after being “deliberately pushed” into a busy road.

Police have arrested a 32-year-old man following the incident on Stoke Newington High Street on Monday morning.

The woman was allegedly pushed into the road outside Sainsbury’s, sustaining a graze to her head and multiple fractured ribs.

A passer-by ran into nearby Stoke Newington Police Station to alert officers.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene, and the woman was taken to hospital with injuries not described as life-changing or life-threatening.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “At this stage in the investigation it is thought the woman was deliberately pushed into the road.”

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently in police custody.
