Two teenagers have been arrested after a “particularly violent” daytime stabbing incident on a Victoria Line Tube train at Stockwell.

The pair, aged 16 and 18, are thought to have fought each other on the northbound train - with police being called at 2.52pm on Wednesday.

They were rushed to hospital where the 18-year-old was treated for minor injuries and has since been discharged to police custody. The 16-year-old remains in hospital receiving treatment on two puncture wounds and his injuries are potentially life-changing but not life-threatening.

British Transport Police confirmed the two were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and being in possession of offensive weapons.

Detective inspector Paul Attwell said: “This was a particularly violent incident on a busy Tube service that has resulted in a man sustaining serious injuries.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was on-board the Tube at the time or at Stockwell Underground station as they may have information that could greatly assist our investigation.

“Passengers can expect to see additional officers at Stockwell Underground station following the incident and I would urge the public to approach them if they have any concerns or information relating to yesterday’s incident.”
