Stock indexes gave up an early advance and settled mixed on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 falling to a 6-week low, and the Dow Jones Industrials sinking to a 3-month low. The broader market retreated on Wednesday after the FOMC voted unanimously to raise interest rates by +25 bp and signaled one more rate hike later this year to contain inflation.
