Stock indexes today recovered from early losses and are trading mixed due to a rally in chip stocks. Stocks today initially moved lower after President Trump imposed a 25% tariff on US steel and aluminum imports that will include finished metal products and take effect on March 12. European Commission President Von der Leyen immediately responded and said, “Unjustified tariffs on the EU will not go unanswered and will trigger firm and proportionate countermeasures.”
