Indian equity benchmarks closed higher on Wednesday, supported by broad-based buying as investors assessed signs of a possible de-escalation in West Asia and tracked movements in crude oil prices.
The Nifty 50 settled 117.80 points, or 0.50%, higher at 23,446.80, while the Sensex gained 299.17 points, or 0.40%, to close at 74,828.25.
From a technical perspective, the recovery could extend towards the 20-day moving average, currently placed around 23,650-23,700, if Brent crude sustains below the $100-a-barrel mark, according to Vatsal Bhuva, technical analyst at LKP Securities.
“On the derivatives front, strengthening PCR and Put writing at higher strikes indicate a gradual shift in the base,” Bhuva said. Immediate support for the Nifty is seen at 23,300, while resistance is pegged at 23,650-23,700.
