Andrew Davies ploughed through the heat to complete a memorable European marathon in a melting Munich.
The Stockport athlete, 42, crossed the line in 25th on the opening day of the European Athletics Championships after clocking a hard-fought time of 2:18:23.
The 26-mile contest represented both a team and individual event and alongside Mohamud Aadan, Philip Sesemann and Andrew Heyes, British runners finished seventh as Israel beat hosts Germany to gold.
