The New York Giants were soundly beaten by the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, falling by a score of 31-16. They lost quarterback Daniel Jones to a neck injury in the process and are now 1-4 to start the season.
Things get no easier for the Giants as they face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football in Week 6. But before we look ahead, we must look back.

Stock up: Jason Pinnock
Safety Jason Pinnock was not perfect on Sunday but when the team needed a big play, he made it. He intercepted a deflection off the hands of linebacker Bobby Okereke and returned it 102 yards for the score — the longest touchdown of the NFL season to date and the team’s first first-half touchdown of the year.
Stock down: Joshua Ezeudu
It feels bad to pile on Joshua Ezeudu right now. He’s a reserve guard starting at tackle due to injuries and a lack of depth. He’s been thrust into an unwinnable situation and it’s beginning to take a mental toll on him. After multiple penalties and surrendering the hit that injured quarterback Daniel Jones, Ezeudu was left in tears at his locker.
Stock up: Kayvon Thibodeaux
After a tough start to the season, linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux is beginning to heat up. There are still parts of his game that must be cleaned up but on Sunday, he recorded his fourth sack of the season and recovered a fumble. The Giants desperately need this trend to continue.
Stock down: Joe Schoen
The Giants are a complete disaster in every phase of the game and a lot of that has to do with roster building. We can point fingers at Brian Daboll and his staff all day — and they do deserve the criticism — but Schoen has left them so undermanned that it’s nearly impossible to overcome. Cutting Tyre Phillips seemed like a foolish decision at the time and now it’s led to Schoen’s $140 million contract being injured.
Stock up: Jamie Gillan
When you don’t hear the name of the punter, that generally means he’s doing a good job. Jamie Gillan has turned his season around and played another solid game on Sunday. He averaged 40.3 yards on four punts, did not allow a single yard returning and dropped three inside the 20.
Stock down: Giants fans
As Daniel Jones was escorted to the locker room on Sunday, Giants fans who made the trek to Miami took it upon themselves to cheer his injury. Many of those who sat at home shared similar sentiments and celebrated on social media. It was an absolutely disgusting display usually reserved for Philadelphia Eagles fans.
