Stock up, down after Giants’ 24-20 victory over Ravens

The New York Giants did it again, this time rallying late to upset the Baltimore Ravens, 24-20, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The victory improves the Giants’ record to an improbable 5-1 and has them second in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles (6-0).

Whose stock is up and whose is down after the dramatic Week 6 win? Let’s take a look.

Stock up: Kayvon Thibodeaux

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Kayvon Thibodeaux has gotten better and better each week, and finally had his defining moment on Sunday.

With time ticking away and the Ravens looking to secure a last-second victory, Thibodeaux had a strip-sack of quarterback Lamar Jackson. The ball was recovered by Leonard Williams and the Giants went on to win the game.

It was Thibodeaux’s first career sack and it could not have come in a bigger moment.

Stock down: Marcus Johnson

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

After a solid game last week against the Green Bay Packers, wide receiver Marcus Johnson went backwards a bit on Sunday.

Although Johnson did haul in two passes, including one for 18 yards, he also had two incompletions — one due to a miscommunication and the other a straight drop in the endzone.

The dropped touchdown didn’t bury the Giants in the end, but those are plays that have to be made.

Stock up: Daniel Bellinger

Like Thibodeaux, tight end Daniel Bellinger seems to get better and better each week.

Whether he’s flattening gunners on special teams, chipping edge rushers or catching touchdowns, Bellinger just seems to be doing all of the right things.

In Week 6, he led the team with five receptions (on five targets) for 38 yards and one touchdown but again, his blocking and special teams play were every bit as impactful as his offensive production.

Stock down: Tae Crowder

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Tae Crowder has played well this season but Sunday’s performance may be one he wishes to forget.

There were several instances where Crowder seemed out of position or put into a bad position in coverage. He also struggled with Baltimore’s massive fullback, Patrick Ricard.

The former Mr. Irrelevant finished the game with just three tackles (two solo).

Stock up: Evan Neal

John Jones-USA TODAY Sports

It certainly wasn’t flawless, but rookie right tackle Evan Neal may have played his best game of the season against the Ravens.

The Giants’ offensive line wasn’t great on Sunday and even Andrew Thomas seemed to struggle at times, but Neal made no glaring mistakes and certainly limited the pressure coming from the right side.

Specifically, Neal was stout in one-on-one situations on several third-and-long plays.

Stock down: Matt Breida

It’s tough to put Matt Breida in the “stock down” section after his key first-down catch that ended with him taking a huge hit. The fact that he held onto the ball was remarkable. But it really was his only plus play on Sunday.

That reception went for 15 yards. His other four touches went for -4 yards, including three rushes for -6 yards and a long of one yard.

You could make the argument that he was put into a couple of bad spots and that’s true, but there were some plays to be made out there.
