Community leaders in Stobswell have begun very early discussions about the development of Albert Street.
The news follows the launch of the Craigie Street Pocket Place scheme.
Work is due to begin on the exciting project later this year.
A similar project is also being assessed for Eliza Street, where proposals have been put forward for a pedestrian corridor leading from the car park in Dura Street through to Albert Street.
It would feature more greenery, colour, seating and cycle storage.
While delivering the Pocket Places, the Stobswell Forum has now turned its attention to Albert Street itself.
A spokesman said the group is now ‘starting conversations’ with developers Sustrans and the council’s City Development Dept.
They told Dundee Live discussions are at a very early stage and urged locals to come forward with their own ideas and opinions.
They added: “We know this won’t happen overnight and the funding required will potentially be very significant but we believe that the health of our whole community is tied to the health of the Albert Street Shopping District.
“A regenerated Albert Street has the ability to keep more locals shopping in the area, create jobs, reduce travel & pollution and improve the wellbeing of everyone in the area.”
The spokesman described what Albert Street may look like in the future, adding: "It could have wider pavements, more greenery and colour, more space for local buses & cycling and less non stopping HGVs and inter-city buses.
“It could also have more space for people and improved support for existing and potential new business to the area, but it can look like anything that local people want, they need to be taking the lead with the decisions coming from the community.”
