A Stirling thug carried out repeated attacks on his partner, with his fists and feet, which rendered her unconscious, over a six-year period.
Thirty-three-year-old Robert Lee Barclay admitted a charge of assaulting the woman to her injury and a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
The offences took place at a variety of addresses in the Stirling area between June 2014 and August 2021.
Barclay, of Crum Crescent, Stirling, had seized the woman by the throat and compressed her throat, restricting her breathing, as well as punching her on the head and body.
He had also seized her by the hair which caused sections of her hair to detach from her head - before seizing her by the body and pulling her to the ground rendering her unconscious.
The charge had originally stated that Barclay had endangered the woman’s life, but the Crown accepted a guilty plea to an amended charge, from which endangerment to life was deleted.
The threats had occurred over the same timescale. He had shouted and swore at the woman, smashing a television and glass table, threatened to kill her. He also damaged doors by punching them.
And on August 8, 2021 at a St Ninians address Barclay admitted a third charge involving the assault of another woman by repeatedly kicking her on the body.

When the matter called for sentence at Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday this week, Barclay’s lawyer pointed to a report prepared for the court – and requested that a domestic violence programme (Caledonian System) assessment be carried out.
Barclay had been subject to the Caledonian programme, but it had not been completed due to Covid-19.
The solicitor said his client felt that the programme had been of benefit.
Barclay had been remanded in custody since tendering guilty pleas at the beginning of April. The lawyer asked that he be granted bail while the assessment was carried out.
Sheriff Charles Lugton deferred matters until June 7 for the Caledonian programme assessment to allow the court to have all sentencing options before it. He refused the application for bail and Barclay was remanded in custody.
