Stirling’s Labour administration has lost one of its councillors.
Ewan Dillon, who was elected for the first time earlier this year, is now listed as an independent councillor.
A six-member Labour group took control of the council in a minority administration earlier this year following the local government elections after receiving backing from the seven Tory councillors.
Councillor Dillon’s new status means there are now five Labour members, seven Conservatives, eight SNP, one Green and two independent councillors, the other being former SNP councillor Alasdair Macpherson.
The previous council administration was SNP/Labour but Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar made clear that no such partnerships would be repeated following the recent election.
Councillor Dillon, who represents Bridge of Allan and Dunblane ward, had been vice convener of the community planning and regeneration committee and children and young people committee, but is now listed on the council website only as a member of the licensing board.

The 19-year-old’s win in the Dunblane and Bridge of Allan ward, which is represented by four councillors, was seen as a good result for Labour.
The former Dunblane High pupil and member of the Scottish Youth Parliament had said following his win: “We’re going to be focusing on things like closing the attainment gap and the cost of living crisis. One of the big issues for me is transport, on local bus routes and making sure there are no more cuts to vital services.”
Labour Party representatives and Councillor Dillon have yet to comment on the reasons for his becoming an independent councillor.
