It was a case of patience paying off for Aaron Dunsmore on Saturday as he produced a top display against his old team to get Stirling Albion back on track in cinch League 2.
The former East Fife player has been forced to bide his time in and out of the Albion starting XI as the Binos went on a surging unbeaten run, but took his chance back at his regular position of full-back to lay on two goals and score the third in Saturday’s 3-1 win.
He got his chance after Cammy Clark’s red card in the home defeat to Annan and laid down a marker to stay in the side with a dynamic display which caused the Fifers no end of trouble.
It’s a win which dragged Albion back on the tails of Dumbarton at the summit as the league takes a break this week for the Scottish Cup. Dunsmore said: “It was a good afternoon, eh? It was a far closer game than maybe the scoreline shows.
“We had the two early goals and then just kind of sat off them to be honest.
“We didn’t keep the ball well and we said that at half-time, they had a lot of possession after the two goals and then got their goal and probably deserved it.

“I thought in the second half, we defended pretty well and then got the goal right at the end there.
“We went ten unbeaten – including the cup _ and six in a row, so we just had to get back on track this week with another hard game and with the weather coming in, you just have to battle a little and that’s what we did.
“I couldn’t really knock on the manager’s door too much when we were winning six games in a row, it’s just obviously about being patient and waiting for your chance when it comes.
“I’ve been playing more right midfield this season, back to right-back which I played when I was younger and it was good to get the assists and the goal to help get the win.”
The former Hibs kid arrived at Forthbank with his former boss after five years at Bayview and admitted that his man-of-the-match display came was extra satisfying given the opposition.
He added: “Yeah, it’s a wee bit sweet to be perfectly honest.
“It was good to get the three points and that’s the main thing.
“We got off to a good start and it’s something that we weren’t the best at in the League Cup.
“We were conceding goals early doors and if you go down one or two goals down, it’s kind of massive in the lower leagues.
“I think since we’ve went on the winning run, we’ve been scoring early doors and don’t think we’ve conceded after a certain amount of time either.”
