'Still in it' - Jon Dadi Bodvarsson leads Bolton Wanderers dressing room reaction to Morecambe draw

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson admits there is disappoinyment at Bolton Wanderers after drawing at home to Morecambe but they are still in the hunt for the League One play-offs after his late goal salvaged a point.

Bodvarsson came off the bench to score a dramatic late equaliser against the Shrimps at the University of Bolton Stadium last night in a 1-1 draw.

Wanderers began the clash at the University of Bolton Stadium exceptionally well and could have been a few goals to the good by half-time.

Dion Charles missed a glorious chance and struck the crossbar with another effort, while Amadou Bakayoko saw an effort land wide.

But Cole Stockton gave the visitors the advantage after making the most of George Johnston's short pass to give the Shrimps the lead at the break.

Wanderers huffed and puffed after the break but got a stoppage time equaliser when Xavier Amaechi teed up fellow substitute Bodvarsson to net late on and salvage a point.

The draw keeps Wanderers in 11th place in League One and they remain seven points from the top six with nine games of their season left to go.

Bodvarsson came off the bench to score for the second game in a row as the Iceland international admits he is feeling very confident in a Wanderers shirt right now.

And the January transfer window signing from Millwall believes that Wanderers remain in the hunt for the League One play-offs and is targeting three points against Plymouth Argyle at home this Saturday.

Do you think Bodvarsson should start this weekend's clash against Plymouth? Have your say in the comments section below.

Speaking to the club website after the spoils were shared against the Shrimps, Bodvarsson said: "I’m very confident at the moment. I feel great.

“I feel like I can express myself on the pitch and be myself since I came here – something that was maybe lacking at my previous club.

“I’m just over the moon really for my start at the club and long may it continue.

“Scoring a last-minute equaliser is always nice to give us a bit more of a positive atmosphere at the end for the lads.

“It was a tough game but we at least got a point from a hard game and we keep moving forward.

“They were fighting for their lives and made it hard for us.

“We had a good spell in the first 25 minutes of the game where we could have put the game almost to bed.

“So maybe we were our worst enemy. That happens, unfortunately, sometimes but we managed to get at least something out of the game at the end and that’s a positive.

“We’re still in it. We’re disappointed today. Luckily Saturday is not far off now and we’re looking to get a good result from that game and keep that play-off belief still on.”
