Rarely has there been so much public interest in an All-Ireland Club Junior Football as this year’s decider between Stewartstown and Fossa.
Then again, it isn’t every year that the current Footballer of the Year is playing in the Junior final.
David Clifford is more than the best player in Ireland. He is Gaelic Football’s MVP. A generational talent who is mobbed by youngsters after every game he plays, whether it is for club or county.
Of course, his sibling Paudie is a formable player as well and Stewartstown will know they’ll have their hands full trying to curb the influence of the two Kerry stars.
The Harps have already been in the trenches to get to this stage. They defeated Drumlane of Cavan on penalties in the Ulster final at Clones and they needed extra-time last weekend to see off the challenge of Clifden of Galway.
Stewartstown were beaten by Kerry’s Finuge in the 2005 Junior final and they'll be hoping for a better outcome this time around.
