Stewartry RFC celebrated a double success at Moffat 10s tournament on Saturday.
Both the men’s and women’s sides won their respective tournaments, going unbeaten in the process.
In the group stage, the men’s side defeated Bishopton 19-0, Clydesdale 26-0, Dumfries 14-0 and Moffat 14-0.
That put them through to the semi-finals, where they dispatched Wigtownshire 24-10.
Awaiting them in the final were Allan Glens, who pipped Stewartry to the Tennent’s West One title last season.
And Stewartry gained some revenge with a 7-5 win, Lochy Spence scoring a try that was converted by Andrew Picken.
The Sirens also blitzed their group fixtures. They beat Annan 12-0 with tries for Chloe Johnstone and Phaedra Snailham and a conversion for Lisa Ritchie. They followed that up with a 14-7 win over Biggar thanks to tries from Johnstone and SNailham, both converted by Ritchie. The same combination that saw them beat Kelso 14-7.
In the semi-final against Annan they won 24-7 with tries from Johnstone, Jade Stewart and a double from Hannah Sainsbury, Ritchie adding two conversions.
The final saw them face Biggar again, Snailham scoring two tries, both converted by Ritchie.
Their semi-final pitted them against Annan, where they won 24-7, before they once again defeated Biggar in the final, winning 14-0.
Both teams ensured all players got plenty of game time and there was high work rate from all players. Both teams were well supported and the staggered matches meant the teams were able to support each other in between their own matches.
