Two Stewartry residents have been presented with their British Empire Medals.
Debbie Murdoch and Stewart Parsons both received the accolade in this year’s New Year’s Honours list.
And in Kirkcudbright on Wednesday afternoon they were presented with their medals by the Lord Lieutenant of the Stewartry, Lord Sinclair.
Mrs Murdoch ran Balmaclellan Store until handing over the reins last month.
She received her honour for her efforts supporting the community during the pandemic.
Mr Parsons lives in Palnackie and runs Gallovidia books in Kirkcudbright with his wife.
He received his prestigious honour for services to libraries and music.
Mr Parsons launched Get it Loud in Libraries in 2005, giving people who love music the chance to see artists in a local setting.
