An East Ayrshire school is closing early today after suffering a power failure.
The council confirmed Stewarton Academy is calling it a day as a result of the issue which has arisen as the region shivers in sub-zero temperatures.
Pupils who aren't able to get home will be looked after while engineers will pitch up in a bid to fix the problem ahead of classes tomorrow.
In a statement, the local authority said: "We are closing Stewarton Academy as the school has no power.
"Transport has been arranged and parents informed. Any young person who cannot return home early will be supervised.
"Engineers will be on site soon to rectify the situation for tomorrow."
Elsewhere in East Ayrshire, a power failure and no heating meant a day off for kids who attend Loudoun Academy.
Drongan and Whatriggs primary schools, as well as their early years centres, were also shut for the day.
In North Ayrshire, Dalry Primary School has remained closed for a second day due to problems with the heating system. The early years centre is open as normal.
Scotland has been in the grip of an icy winter blast for much of the last week with temperatures as low as -9C leading to travel disruption and postponed sports fixtures.
