Stewart urged to snub 'attractive' Rangers transfer as pundit offers stay-put advice

Stewart urged to snub 'attractive' Rangers transfer as pundit offers stay-put advice

ROSS STEWART has been urged to snub any potential Rangers transfer move regardless of how attractive a move to Ibrox may seem.

Sunderland striker Stewart enjoyed a stunning season in League One last season netting 26 goals in all competitions as his side earned promotion through the play-offs.

The 25-year-old has just come off the back of a call-up to the Scottish national team as he earned two caps against Armenia and Ireland earlier this month.

And following his superb season, Stewart has been linked with a move away from Tyne and Wear with Rangers among clubs credited with an interest in the forward.

But former Sunderland striker Louis Saha has urged Stewart to pass up any move to Rangers to stay in the Championship.

The Frenchman reckons Stewart could be tempted by any offer of a move to Ibrox, but claims proving himself in the Championship with Sunderland would be the best decision for him this summer.

Saha told BoyleSports Football Odds: “Ross Stewart is on fire and he knows he's an attractive player for a club like Rangers and I think he could be swayed by a move there.

“I think that staying in the Championship is best because you'll then have that base to show that you can make the step up and I also think that when you want to improve as a player, stability at one club is best so I would suggest that Ross stays at Sunderland next season and waits for a move.”
