Steven Gerrard has been tipped to make England his next move after managing Rangers and Aston Villa.
The former midfielder left Ibrox in November last year for a crack at the English Premier League with the Villans but it has ended sourly after just 11 months. A poor start to the season had put mounting pressure on him and a 3-0 loss to Fulham on Thursday proved too much for the Villa hierarchy, who sacked him before the team even arrived back in Birmingham from London.
Former striker Darren Bent knows all about Rangers' former boss, having played with him at international level with the The Three Lions. And with what he knows about their structure, it would not shock him if Gerrard was the man to follow on from Gareth Southgate at Wembley. He told talkSPORT: "You know what, it would not surprise me if he is one of the candidates for the England job next.

"I am not saying he should get it but you know what they are like, the FA. They like people who have been in the system before.
"He has played for England before. He is very much a company man, isn't he, Steven Gerrard? So that would not surprise me."
Gerrard was handed his first managerial chance by Rangers and he guided them to Premiership glory in 2021 on top of strong Europa League showings.
