Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard has praised the Leeds United supporters and admitted that they didn't 'let the team down' following the Whites' 3-0 defeat at Elland Road.
Gerrard was also delighted with his side's performance as they ran out comfortable winners thanks to goals from Phillipe Coutinho, Matty Cash and Callum Chambers.
However, it was an evening to forget for the Whites, who were unable to back up last weekend's positive performance at Leicester City and slumped to a sixth successive defeat.
Jesse Marsch was hoping to record his first win as Leeds manager, but Gerrard's side posed far more quality going forward which proved too much for the Whites to handle.
In his post-match verdict, Gerrard has hailed his team's display as 'outstanding' and admitted that they adapted well to the conditions.
"When a new manager comes in you normally get that new-manager bounce and we knew Elland Road was going to be rocking tonight and it was, I don't think their fans let the team down today," Gerrard told Amazon Prime Sport.
"I thought our performance as outstanding today and if it was a boxing match the towel might have come in because we were strong in all departments tonight.
"It was about taking the space away from Leeds. Leeds have a lot of pace in the team, we really wanted to dominate the middle of the pitch.
"Once we beat the press, in terms of in possession, we could really get at that back six."
Leeds will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Norwich City this weekend.
