Steven Gerrard has been SACKED by Aston Villa after just 11 months in the top job.
The final straw for club hierarchy came last night as the former Rangers gaffer and his side were defeated 3-0 by English Premier League new boys Fulham on the road. It's been a rocky few weeks for the Liverpool and England legend with results not going as planned this season despite heavy investment in the summer to bring the likes of Phillipe Coutinho in on a permanent deal and defender Diego Carlos from Sevilla.
Villa currently sit 17th in England's top flight - just outside the relegation places on goal difference from Wolves after just two wins in 11 league outings this term. Harrison Reed, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Tyrone Mings' own goal settled the contest last night, with the news on Gerrard's departure quickly following.

In a short statement, the club said: "Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that Head Coach Steven Gerrard has left the club with immediate effect."
A club spokesman added: “We would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future.”
Villa host Brentford at home this weekend before clashes with top end of the table Newcastle and Manchester United. It's then the latter once again in the EFL Cup third round before rounding off with a trip to Brighton before the World Cup break up.
