Former Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard was subjected to a X-rated blast from followers of the team he previously managed at the home of his beloved Liverpool.
Gerrard endured an ill-fated 11 months in Birmingham and was also subjected to taunts on the night of his dismissal after a pasting at the hands of Fulham at Craven Cottage. Villa are flying high under successor Unai Emery but a section of travelling supporters couldn't resist sticking it to the Kop legend during their 1-1 draw with Jurgen Klopp's side at Anfield.
And other shouts of "We'd be top if it wasn't for Gerrard" were heard from the clutch of travelling fans who are loving life under the Spaniard. Villa are in the mix for a top-six finish for the first time since the days of Martin O'Neill in the Midlands. The former Rangers boss has recently returned to work as a pundit with BT Sport and will serve as an ambassador for next month's Champions League Final in Istanbul – the venue of his most famous triumph as Reds skipper.
