Cardiff City manager Steve Morison has confirmed the club's interest in taking Ryan Giles back from Wolves and says he "hasn't left them alone" since the Molineux club recalled him at the beginning of this month.
Giles was the league's leading assist-maker when Bruno Lage recalled him at the start of January, having enjoyed a terrific first half of the season with the Bluebirds.
Morison said that any movement will likely happen over the coming week, with Premier League clubs likely to have a better idea of the players they want to keep until the end of the season.
And while the manager revealed there was nothing in the pipeline in the immediate future, he made no secret of his desire to have Giles back.
“Nothing imminent," he said when asked about transfers.
“If Ryan Giles becomes available, it’s no secret that we’d like him and I’m sure most teams in the Championship would.
“That’s something I’ll try to do, if I get a phone call to say it’s an option. I’m sure there will be conversations taking part in the early part of the week.”
When quizzed on whether Wolves know of Cardiff's interest to take the wing-back on loan again this month, he replied: “Yeah, I haven’t left them alone! I text them once or twice a week to check what’s going on.
“Obviously, we’ll just have to wait and see. He’s their player and it’s up to them what they do with him.”
Meanwhile, Cardiff's defensive record this season is tough to look at. Only Reading and Peterborough have worse defensive records.
Some supporters want to see a new centre back brought in this month, but Morison swatted away reports of any links to players in that position this month.
"They are all young players who have never even played in the Championship," he said when asked if there was anything in reports linking Cardiff to centre backs.
"We have got enough gambles on the pitch as it is. Our younger players, who were are trying to force through, the harsh reality is they don't have the Championship experience. They are getting it in a tough period, because it would be a nicer if you were in a nice spot in the league.
"Cody [Drameh] is a gamble, Tommy [Doyle] is a gamble. There's only so many gambles we can take."
