Arsenal physiotherapist Simon Murphy reportedly turned down the opportunity to head up the team of physios at Nottingham Forest due to "uncertainty over the future" of head coach Steve Cooper.
Murphy was being reported as having joined the Reds back in July to fill to position within the medical department that had been vacated by Neil Simms after the previous incumbent left the City Ground after five years of service in the aftermath of the Championship play-off final victory to become Southampton's lead performance physio.
That seamless changing of the guard didn't transpire, though, as Murphy remains in north London, and it is also claimed that Forest are still to fill the vacancy three months later. After remaining a part of manager Mikel Arteta's staff, it is being reported that the physio has now been promoted to lead performance physio at the club as of this month.

Training Ground Guru, who reported that Murphy has made the move this summer, now claims that the physio was in the process of "serving his notice" at Arsenal, having "already attended meetings at Forest", and that the club's staff "had been informed of his joining".
They, though, add that the combination of "uncertainty over the future" of Cooper alongside the presence of an Arteta-led counter-offer to stay in the capital changed his mind. This development has now apparently left Forest "short of numbers" in that area, as Simms' departure was compounded this summer by fellow physio Luis Pinho leaving to join Tottenham Hotspur.
