Steve Cooper tipped to complete Nottingham Forest 'miracle' after wrong 'sneaky feeling'

Former Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage has backed Steve Cooper to pull off another miracle and lead Nottingham Forest to Premier League survival.

The BBC pundit has amended his predictions from the beginning of the season when he felt the Reds would "surprise people" and finish 12th in the table.

But now Savage feels Cooper will lead the Reds to 17th and keep them in the top flight at the first time of asking. The Reds are currently in the bottom three of the Premier League but have shown signs of improvement under Cooper.

And Savage said in his Daily Mirror column: "There were positive signs of life, after a worrying autumn, when the World Cup break came around.

"Steve Cooper delivered one miracle to win promotion, and I fancy him to come up with another."

Giving his prediction about the Reds in the summer, Savage initially said: "I have a sneaking feeling they might surprise a few people, as Sheffield United and Brentford did after winning promotion. It's never easy to establish a pattern after 13 new signings, and they may not see a lot of the ball in some games, but Jesse Lingard will hurt teams on the break."
