Yes, yesterday did happen. It's the day after Nottingham Forest extended their unbeaten run over Derby County, making it ten games without defeat, as Steve Cooper's side ran out 2-1 winners.
Here is a round-up of the latest Forest headlines on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
Brennan Johnson discusses Forest future amid talk of a move away
Brennan Johnson continued his fine run of form for Nottingham Forest by scoring against Derby County yesterday lunchtime.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder admitted he is enjoying his time at the City Ground but did not rule out a move away from Trentside.
Johnson has been linked with a move to the Premier League throughout this season and made no harm to his reputation as an exciting young player with his goalscoring performance in the 2-1 win over against Derby.
After Lewis Grabban had given the Reds the lead early in the second-half, Johnson capped off an excellent attacking move with a goal of his own.
Starting the move on the half-way line, Johnson sprayed the ball wide to Philip Zinckernagel before driving forward to turn the ball past Derby 'keeper Ryan Allsop from inside the penalty area.
Forest head coach Steve Cooper is determined to keep hold of his prized asset this month, but he has not ruled out accepting a bid for the young midfielder if it meets their price tag.
Steve Cooper's special message for Forest fans
Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper paid special tribute to the City Ground crowd for their “amazing” part in a 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Derby County.
The packed-out stadium was rocking throughout, no more so than when Lewis Grabban and Brennan Johnson had put the Reds in command in the second half.
“Now I’m standing here, I can say I enjoyed it,” he grinned.
“I liked it when we went 2-0 up and there was the sense that we were in complete control of the game. We were playing well, and I thought we might go score another one.
“It was a bit gutting to go 2-1.
“But I loved it!
“When we went 2-0 up, it was amazing. You had to take a deep breath and go, ‘wow, how good is it to be part of this?’. And then you’ve got to focus back on the game.”
Liam Gallagher comments on Forest's win against Derby County
Musician Liam Gallagher has made a surprise comment about Nottingham Forest's 2-1 win over Derby County.
It was an East Midlands derby similar to many before as tension was high on the terraces and controversy spread throughout.
First Grabban avoided an early red card from referee Tim Robinson when he clashed with Liam Thompson; however, the Rams had Ravel Morrison sent for an early shower deep into stoppage time when he committed a hefty challenge on Philip Zinckernagel.
The strong tackle sparked a brief fracas between the two sets of players and supporters in the ground and watching at home loved the passion on show.
That included former Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher, who tweeted: "Gwan Forest n Derby with ya big bad selfs."
Forest fans share new verdict on Lee Buchanan amid City Ground links
Nottingham Forest fans have been left unconvinced whether Lee Buchanan would be a good addition to their squad.
The 20-year-old defender has been sidelined since late November with an injury but he made his return in the East Midlands derby defeat to Forest on Saturday afternoon.
He completed the full 90 minutes at the City Ground but Brennan Johnson's movement and pace left him beaten on multiple occasions.
Buchanan managed a pass success rate of just 63% with just 12 complete passes; only Colin Kazim-Richards (9), Ravel Morrison (9), Luke Plange (5) and Festy Ebosele (3) had fewer.
That is perhaps expected given he has missed Derby's last nine matches in all competitions, but Forest fans seem to be less accepting of that and think the options they already have - Djed Spence and Max Lowe - are much better.
