Owner Evangelos Marinakis' backing in the transfer market has come as little surprise to Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.
A summer rebuilding project was always going to be on the cards at the City Ground, following promotion to the Premier League. And the Greek businessman has sanctioned a significant spending spree which is already well into nine figures, with 17 additions made so far - two of which have headed straight out on loan.
But cash has not just been splashed on the playing squad. Marinakis has also shown his commitment by spending millions around the City Ground redevelopment plans, and Forest are improving their training facilities, too.

“Even way before I was here, I don’t think there’s ever been a question of a lack of investment," Cooper said, ahead of Sunday's clash with Tottenham Hotspur. “You look at the training pitches we’re currently doing; that’s a huge investment, and he committed to that before we got promoted.
“That was very important to me, because I want to be able to train on pitches where we can work on our way (of playing) every single day. Don’t get me wrong, the pitches weren’t bad, but probably not quite good enough.
“This gives us an opportunity now to train our way every single day. They’re not quite ready yet, but when they are…
“I don’t think there’s ever been a thought of not having enough investment. Now we’ve gone up a league, he’s continued to provide as best he can. We’re very grateful to him, and we want to make sure we do as well as we can for him.”
Asked whether the investment shows the Reds are keen to avoid being a yo-yo club, having returned to the top-flight after a 23-year absence, Cooper said: “I don’t get too involved in the budgeting. But what we’re trying to do is put together a squad that will give use the best chance to compete at this level.
“I go back to how teams that have come up with us or in seasons before, have already had the types of signings we’ve had to make. We recognised that straight away, we’re trying to catch up, if you like, and we’ll see where that takes us.”
