Steve Cooper makes clear Nottingham Forest point as Tottenham link addressed

Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has again emphatically dismissed rumours linking him with other clubs.

Reports this week suggested the Welshman has admirers at Tottenham Hotspur, amid speculation about Antonio Conte’s future at the club. Previously, it was claimed the Reds could face a fight to keep hold of Cooper in the summer, with “at least two other” teams eyeing him up.

Cooper gave an unequivocal response when asked about the potential interest in him last week. And ahead of his team’s trip to face Spurs on Saturday, he repeated the message.

“It is irrelevant,” he said when asked about the Tottenham link. “I said what I said last week, I don't really need or want to say it again.

“The only focus for me is the game, the guys I am working with every single day and trying to be at my best and do a good day's work, trying to get them to do the same, and then we give ourselves the chance of trying to be a better team away from home.

“We are embracing that challenge. We have had a lot of hurdles to try to overcome this season, and we will continue to have them from now and until the end of the season - you look at the last game against Everton.

“I am loving this journey with the players. It is a challenging one but one I am enjoying.

“Anything outside that bubble is completely irrelevant. The moment I am not thinking about Nottingham Forest or the players or the staff or even how I can be at my best is the moment I am not getting it right or giving it my all here. That's not what I want to be, I want to be all-in, I’ve said that from day one - and I am. I am not looking further than going to Tottenham on Saturday.”
